Biography
Lafayette Jordan is Assistant Director of State Relations at Indiana University, where he advances the university’s priorities before the Indiana General Assembly and state executive branch agencies. He works across a broad portfolio of policy issues, with particular emphasis on the university’s health and life sciences enterprise. In this role, he supports initiatives that develop the workforce pipeline, strengthen Indiana’s health and life sciences ecosystem, and improve statewide health outcomes.
Before joining IU, Lafayette served in senior staff roles in the Indiana House of Representatives, advising legislative leadership on strategy and policymaking across a wide range of high-impact issue areas. In that capacity, he supported bipartisan initiatives that resulted in significant state investments.
Lafayette holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Ball State University and a master's degree in public affairs, with a concentration in public management, from Indiana University’s O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. He currently serves on the board of directors for Pattern Inc., the Indiana Bar Foundation’s Civic Education Committee, and the Indy Art Center’s Programming Committee, reflecting his commitment to enhancing Indiana’s economic, civic, and cultural landscape.
